But then you knew all that didn’t you?
And you knew in war, truth was the first casualty. And the war on terror never ends.
Perhaps you appreciated too that dissent, having a different viewpoint, is the engine of progress.
But you always wanted everyone you met or had a relationship with to agree with you about what goes on in the world, because you accepted the Ministry of Truth’s outpourings unquestionably.
Now, like Canute, you believe that the tide can be turned back, back to the days of honest broadcasting, of trustworthy politicians, of incorruptible corporations, and a moon made of green cheese.
Because it is. It was on the 9 o’clock news.
Servitude is freedom, ignorance is the highest form of enlightenment.
