But it isn’t immediately apparent, except at an intuitive level.
He tells the partly bemused, partly disengaged, partly enthralled, partly patient thong, sorry throng, that we have a true self and a conditioned self.
After a wild and whacky excursion in language wrapped around spiritual concepts which would challenge Buddha, he takes questions.
The visionary dismisses tweeting [but I later found out he tweets], declares he doesn’t ‘do 9-5 [this is for the herd] but does 24/7’, reads minds, and goes for the sympathy vote as he reveals he has spent many years in pain. But it doesn’t show. Perhaps being an evolutionary visionary means you grow out of it.
Out of the two hours he indulges one woman for half an hour. She had had a recent breakdown, and it was accompanied by some weird physical stuff. He assures her it is part of her awakening. We eventually move on.
The problem with the world at present is that it needs a higher level of consciousness. Yep, got that.
The next woman he engages with has had ‘15 years of hell.’ Family members have all gone, her relationships broken down, lost her job. She feels totally alone and isolated.
However, our hero is on a roll. ‘It will pass’ he declares. But it takes him about 15 minutes to convince her. Compassion is conspicuous by its absence.
Was she convinced? We were left wondering. But visionaries are nothing if they don’t have a copyrighted healing process as back up. Two of his camp followers have been trained in this unique, patented method. Our seeker hints she may avail herself of it.
He tells us that when the energy of love/spirit/God/truth enters our bodies it can cause problems. He also declares that certain energies are male [sky], others female [earth]. He clearly know his stuff.
Masculinity and femininity are important. ‘Having sex’ is more than what goes on ‘down below.’ My words, as he merely indicated with a hand movement the part of the body he was taking about. Which is a great tactic if you don’t want people to see you as a bit of a ‘goer.’
And where might the enlightened feel the intimacy?
The heart is where it all happens.
Now I believe in 2 hours he said much more than this. We are all one apparently. At the end of the session, we were taken though a bizarre hand/arm movement which would help us feel the oneness.
Er…It didn’t.
So, if you weren’t completely switched off by his act, he had a three day, a five day and fifteen day retreat for you to consider.
For the absent, here are the subtle messages:
- I’m a guru, who woke up at an early age [he told us this], lost the plot, has suffered for humanity, discovered the plot, and I’m here to save you.
- I’m far, far cleverer than you, despite my attempts at self-deprecation. Gurus are very clever. And special.
- Through the deliberate confusion, some of you might get hooked. And sex is one mighty big hook.
In conclusion, our hero has no doubt helped many people. I hope his universal messages of love, raising consciousness and awareness, dropping into the heart and oneness do indeed help those he comes across.
However…
The next day [today] I felt pretty strange. Our hero would have the answer. It’s loving energy changing me. And he may be right, but the loving energy didn’t come from him. The last time I felt like this was walking through places like shopping malls and rough parts of towns.
And I’m told he has been responsible for the break-up of many marriages and relationships in this area.
Some might conclude he is dangerous man, using spirituality as a tool to manipulate and deceive. That far from empowering people he induces dependency and subservience.
Some might conclude he does the rest of us light workers great harm.
But, hey, I haven’t had a lifetime of pain. Nor, do I more than suspect, has he.
